Business Analyst

Focus is looking to expand team by adding a Business Analyst.  As a Business Analyst, you will be expected to:

  • work independently
  • with customers
  • and alongside the project and software engineering teams at Focus

Your job will involve:

  • collecting requirements
  • developing functional and technical specifications
  • writing user acceptance test cases

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Education preferred
  • Experience with business intelligence such as Microsoft Power BI is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail  
  • Proactive; ability to think critically and independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Job Duties:

  • Take requirements gathered from customers and project teams and turn that into technical specifications for engineering teams.  
  • Write test cases for the automation QA team in order to automate new functionality.
  • Work alongside Training team to ensure documentation is correct and up to date
  • Evaluate and ensure specification documents are complete before releasing to Engineers
  • Validate integrations and work with clients on customizations.
  • Validate changes before they are sent to the customer for approval.
  • Travel to districts/clients for GAP meetings and demos

Medium/Long Term Job Expectations:

  •     Independently learn SQL online or through classwork.
  •     Attend and pass Focus Level 1 technical certification within 6 months
  •     Understanding and ability to learn and write SQL reports
  •     Occasional travel to districts for meetings and demos – expected no more than 3 days a month on average.
  •     Monthly office visits.
  •     Be flexible about working on new projects that could be for any of Focus’ customers or modules.
